Vaporizer & Vape Pens

Everything you need to know when buying a vaporizer

Vaping is a useful alternative to smoking. But what are the benefits of vaporizers? Which vape should I buy? There are so many questions when it comes to vaping and we are here to give you the answers.

First things first, vaping is a healthier way of consuming medicinal herbs than smoking. A vaporizer only produces pure vapor and no smoke at all, since the herbs are not exposed to any combustion. Meaning, vapor does not contain any tar residues and way less contaminants compared to regular smoke. In addition, a vaporizer can extract the flavors and medicinal compounds of dry herbs more effectively, which leads to a stronger effect. In comparison to smoking, where approx. 30-40% of the active ingredient reach the smoker, vaporizers release up to 100% of the active substances contained. Another benefit of a vaporizer is that you can not only vape ground dry herbs but also extracts such as resins, pastes or crystals.

Convection vs conduction or desktop vaporizers vs. portable vaporizers

There are two methods to heat up herbs via a vaporizer: convection and conduction. A convection vaporizer heats up the dry herb indirectly through a hot air flow (similar to an oven). A conduction vaporizer directly heats up the filling chamber in which the plant material is packed (similar to a pot on a stove).

The majority of today's modern portable vaporizers use the conduction method. Conduction allows for a much faster heat build-up and already produces thick vapor upon the first inhalation. This is especially practical for so-called on-demand vaping in everyday life since you don't have to wait too long for the vaporizer to reach the optimal temperature. Portable vapers, in general, are also more affordable and easier to use and are thus considered ideal for vaporizer beginners. Just turn it on and you are good to go.

Convection-based desktop vaporizers are on average a little more expensive but also deliver a significantly better performance. They might take longer before they are ready for use, but in the end they extract more compounds out of dry herbs. That's why convection vaporizers are also referred to as session vaporizers. The taste is more intense and the compound is more potent, which makes those vaporisers ideal for aromatherapy sessions.

Gentle healing: The health benefits of herbal vaping

Aromatherapy has been around since almost the beginning of mankind. Various cultures have vaped herbs to combat diseases and everyday ailments. Inhaling medicinal compounds has proven to be highly effective especially when dealing with diseases or irritations of the respiratory tract such as bronchitis. But also with serious, chronic diseases, the inhalation of herbs with vaporizers can be used successfully for therapeutic purposes.

Still, the ritual or habit of vaping dry herbs is not yet as common as consuming herbs in a tee. It's almost a shame since people nowadays have access to a wide range of safe and useful herbs. For example, sage is a real blessing for coughs or sore throats, mint cools down the body and balm helps you relax.

What to have in mind when vaping

Different herbs require different temperatures, as the active ingredients evaporate at different boiling points. That is why in order to unfold the optimal effects of the herbs and release the medicinal compounds in the best possible way, it is imperative to use the correct heat settings. Whether you are using a portable device or a home vaprizer, most modern vapes allow for precise temperature settings to ensure a smooth and effective vaping experience.
